Tessa smiled a little bit. “ It is really exciting, till you fall. I have fallen down some many time, I lost count.” She knew that she had to think positive. Because she knew that if she didn't, it would be bad for her. She knew that life was harder on her, than a person who could see. But it only made her stronger, and who she is.

She was excited to be starting her first year. After all the stories she has been told, Tessa was finally going to get to go.

“ Slytherin? I think I read something about that house, but I didnt' really pay much attention.” She then paused for a couple of seconds. “ I don't really like to judge just because of what house you are in, that would like someone judging me cause I was blind.”

Tessa smiled. “ I love midsummer night dream.”

Charlotte nodded her head and thought that Tessa really was very brave and she wondered if anyone had ever been mean to her because of what had happened to her and Charlotte thought that if they had, they truly must be completely heartless.

"When you fall you just pick yourself up again don't you? Not many people can do that, they just get embarrassed and get all stroppy."

Glad that Tessa didn't seem to hold any prejudice against the houses Charlotte was a lot more confident again, and hoped that her fellow students wouldn't destroy the image of Slytherin she tried to create.

"Well the main character trait of the house is cunning, most people think that's a bad thing and we have a lot of bad people come out of the house, but that's simply not true."

Smiling happily Charlotte said: "I like The Merchant of Venice, maybe you'll get to perform in the school play."

Tessa smiled a little bit, she could tell what Charlotte was thinking for the most part. She knew that some people thought she was brave, how she handled to being blind. But over the years she have gotten used to people being mean to her. After a while, she told herself that if they could only walk in her shoes for one day. They would realize how hard her life was.

“ Yes that is what happens, that is really all I can do. I mean I do my best every time, but there are sometimes I fall. And sometimes I get scars, but I have learned that they go away over time.

She was still smiled, Tessa knew that she did that a lot. “ I mean I don't know any Slytherins, so why would I hate people that I don't even know. That would be just a little bit rude.”

Tessa was doing her best to pay attention to what she was saying about the Slytherin house. She never knew when she might be able to use it again. One thing she didn't like to waste was knowledge that was given to her.

Smiling still. “ I don't think I would be very good at acting, I mean I can't even see where I am going. Nobody would want a play person in a play.”

Charlotte bowed her head slightly, wondering why things hadn't been put into place to help Tess settle into her life more easily, why they hadn't given her spells so that she didn't hurt herself at least, and why let her go wandering off on her own?

Who knows what could happen!

"Well even though wounds get healed right away when you use magic, it still doesn't quite erase them sometimes, you can still feel like you've got one even when it's not there."

Nodding her head Charlotte beamed, she liked Tessa very much, she didn't judge other people based on one attribute, like so many others do.

"I appreciate that, many of our other housemates are lovely too, so you'll have no problems coming from us this year."

Charlotte frowned slightly and looked at Tessa, she wasn't a 'play person' she was real! But she didn't comment in case she had just misunderstood what it was she was saying.

"It doesn't matter much I don't think, you become someone else on stage, you leave your burdens in your dressing room."

Tessa smiled. She could tell what Charlotte was thinking about, it was usually what a lot of people wondered. Why hadn't they tried to make her life easier, why did they let her wonder around. But she never wanted to feel like she was helpless, and wanted to be like everybody else

She sighed. When she started to talk about using magic to heal wounds. It reminded her all of her bruises that she had. “ Only time can heal all wounds.”

Tessa could tell that Charlotte actually liked her, and Tessa was excited to have another friend. This was something new and different. But at least she knew if she need help, she wouldn't be scared to ask.

Smiling a little bit, and was laughing at her thought. “ I guess I could try for it, but you have to be there with me. I don't think I can get on the stage by myself without falling and making a fool out of myself.”

Charlotte smiled slightly sadly. That was true there were some emotional wounds that would take a lot more than magic to fix, probably more than she would ever really be able to comprehend, but Charlotte knew her own wounds had lessened with time, and her Papa's kindness.

"That's very true. Very true..."

When she heard Tessa laugh, Charlotte laughed a little too, but she thought that maybe it would be a good idea to see about something like a play, she knew Professor Sollmann had put one on last year.

"Well I would be there with you if you really wanted me to be, I would probably be a stagehand, with my acting abilities, I would make half the audience leave." she chuckled.

Tessa smiled. “I have learned over the years just to accept that some people will never like me because I am different. And I can’t help that I am blind, so I could say that is an emotional wound.” But she knew that she had to get over it.

She thought maybe being in a play, might help boost her confidence in herself. And maybe she could make more friends this way. But she liked the idea. She had never been in a play before.

“Yes, please be there with me. I am nervous just thinking about it.” She then paused. “ I am sure that you can act, you just have to believe in yourself.”

Charlotte nodded slightly, she could relate in some ways because of the way she looked most people didn't really think that she was the best of people to converse with...

It had bothered her, but now she had just learnt to ignore those people and focus on the good.

"Well you could always look at it like I do, if people can't accept you for who you are then they aren't worth knowing, that's the way I work now, they'll just upset you if you try to change or fit in."

That Charlotte definatly knew from experiance.

Nodding again Charlotte decides that maybe it would be a good idea to put on some sort of play and made a note to speak to the drama co-ordinator, if he was even still there.

"Maybe we should ask the co-ordinator when we get back to Hogwarts, it'll be fun and it gives houses and years a chance to mix."

Tessa smiled. “ Well also I look at it, if they can't accept me for who I am. Then maybe I don't need to be around them in the first place.” She always had to look at things with a positive look. Because if she didn't, most of the time it would turn bad.

“ There is this saying, you have to let it roll off like a water on a duck's back.” For the longest time Tessa had no idea what that meant. Till one of her cousins caught a duck and she felt the raindrops on its back.

Just thinking about acting, made Tessa excited. Because this was something that she has never did before. And she loved to try new things. Who knows she may love it and want to continue with it. “ That sounds like a great idea.”

Charlotte nodded slightly and thought that it was the best way to look at things when the chips were down so to speak and she couldn't believe that there was someone who was younger than her who was already wiser in many respects.

"I love that phrase, it's quite funny, just like, 'every dog has it's day' although I'm not quite sure what that one might be about."

For a moment Charlotte allowed herself to drift from thought to thought and saying to saying until she snapped out of it with a small smile. It genuinely looked like Tessa was really excited for this.

"So, what subjects are you looking forward to taking this year?"

Tessa smiled. She could tell what Charlotte was thinking. Tessa have always acted like she was older and wiser. But that was from where she was in an orphanage. But she knew that only made her a stronger person. There was sometimes she wished she knew who her real parents where.

She then laughed a little bit. Tessa loved to have someone to talk to. It made everything look just a little better. And it made her happy.

“ There are a ton of classes I am taking. I don't know where to even start. But I am excited cause I am taking Infiltration.”

When Tessa mentioned that she was taking Infiltration, Charlotte couldn't help but squeak happily, she really did like that lesson and it wasn't just because her father taught it either, she felt that you definately need to know these things.

"Well you wont be dissappointed, it's a great lesson! And you know what makes it even better?"

Charlotte was always really proud to tell people that her father was a Professor at the school, and she was glad of it too, it always made things really easy when it came to getting comforted.

"He's my Papa. Cobalt Smith that's him."

Tessa was excited about taking Infiltration. Her sisters read off all of the classes at Hogwarts to her. And that was one that she wanted to take. But she thought that it would be different and that she might be good at that class.

She was glad that she wasn’t' going to be disappointed. Tessa always loved to learn something new everyday. She was excited when Charlotte was about ready to tell her how it was even better.

“ That is your father? That is awesome my adoptive dad teaches at Hogwarts.” She was excited that she was going to be going with her two older sisters and her dad to school this year.

Charlotte was a little excited when Tessa said that her dad too teaches at Hogwarts and she wondered about who it could be, going through all the male professors in her head, she didn't think that it would be Uncle Richie, she didn't think it would be that Occlumency Professor or the History of Magic Professor...

"Who is your adoptive Papa? And what does he teach I might be taking his class this year you never know!" she smiled happily "And my Papa adopted me too, it was a little odd how it happened but I'm very thankful for it non the less."

Tessa was smiling, as she thought about her adopted family. “ Well my father teaches Charms. And both of two older sisters are adopted.” She was still smiling when she thought about Salina and Agatha. Tessa was still excited that this was her first year, she remember that her sister told her that they would help her. When she heard that Charlotte was adopted, she started to smile.

“ I am very glad my father adopted me, life at the orphanage was hard.” She then started to think about to the days when she was still living at the orphanage. But she then remembered that she no longer lived there and wouldn’t' have to worry about it.
