Lesson Four - Combined

Darcie, being Darcie, had been having a rather hard time in her personal life at the moment, her relationship with Luther seemed to be hanging by a thread and she didn't know what she could do to help him feel better about what had happened that night, they had talked it through but it seemed that the feelings were still there, at least, he still seemed to feel them.

She was beginning to get rather desperate now and was even looking towards forgetfulness potions and maybe taking him to the nearest magical hospital to have the memories removed that way, whatever she decided, she knew she needed to get him some help from someone who wasn't her, maybe one of the friends he told her about? Although with both of them being highly important people...they weren't going to want to talk to her were they?

Sighing she pouted softly and finished painting ducks on her nails, it was her new hobby, nail art. She was getting quite good at it. Blowing on the varnish she waited for her classes to arrive.

Oh, it had been a long, long time. Dmitra couldn't remember the last time she had set foot in the Dark Arts classroom. It looked the same as always though. Dmitra breathed in her memories for sometime, then quietly stepped inside.

One of her favourite teachers, Professor Vane, was already there, and looking like she was painting something on her nails. A faint smile lingering around her lips, Dmitra wished her, "Good morning Professor." and walked towards a seat to the front of the classroom, sitting down and waiting for classes to begin.

Aquila felt disgust as she stared at herself in the reflection of one of the mirrors upon the walls as she walked determinedly towards her Dark Arts class. She needed to cure herself, she didn't want to waste away anymore. Her skin was pale and tight around her bones, her eyes sunken and hollow with bags under them. Her once wavy hair was now limp and she looked terrible.

She sat down at the front of the classroom and weakly smiled at Darcie before resting her chin on her arms and waiting for the lesson to begin.

Christielle shuffled into the classroom, rubbing her eyes, then looked around. Wait - what? She checked her schedule. Ah, there it was - combined classes. Christi sighed, greeted Professor Vane "good morning," and sat down on her usual chair. She looked around and saw two girls who looked like they were in the sixth year.

Christi stifled a huge yawn as she waited for the lesson to begin.

Darcie lifted her head and smiled at her favourite students when they arrived, Aquila looked like she had had a rough night last night, she hoped that she wasn't ill or something, but was sure that she would tell her if she needed help, and she wouldn't take kindly if she pried...

Smiling again, she turned to the students and moved to sit closer to them for a more personal lesson;

"Hi you guys, it's nice to see you, I hope you had a lovely holiday." she greeted warmly "Now Christielle today you are going to be learning about horcruxes and Aquila and Dmitra you are going to be learning about hinkypunks. Can any of you tell me anything about the things you are going to be learning about today?"

Slowly, Aquila dragged her gaze up from the table and stared at Darcie. They hadn't had a proper conversation in a while and she felt that deep craving to talk to someone who was so optimistic and pleasant as Darcie. She admired the woman's spirit, her protectiveness, her intelligence, the way she had been so calm when Durmstrang ship had been attacked... But most of all, she adored her for actually caring about Aquila even just a little bit.

She frowned as she tried to recall information and raised her hand to offer what she could remember.

"Hinkypunks are a small creaturee with one leg and they are what appears to be formed of grey, blue or white smoke. They are known to carry a lantern and lead travellers off of their paths at night and into bogs. They can be terminated by casting the Lumos Duo spell and while they are stunned use Flipendo against them 3-5 times," as Aquila neared the end of her words her voice become strained and she swallowed hard before lowering her hand and hoping her answer would be good enough.

Christielle cleared her throat. "A Horcrux is a powerful object in which a Dark wizard has hidden a fragment of his soul for the purpose of attaining immortality. Creating one Horcrux gives one the ability to resurrect oneself if the body is destroyed; the more Horcruxes one creates, the closer one is to true immortality. Creating multiple Horcruxes is suggested to be costly to the creator, by both diminishing their humanity and even physically disfiguring them," she said.

She frowned for a moment, then continued. "Hm... Creation of a Horcrux is considered the foulest act of Dark magic, as it attempts to violate and tamper with the multiple laws of nature and morality in its creation. Horcruxes are objects considered to be so evil that even the texts published explicitly to cater to the practise of the most terrible kinds of magic will not speak of them. Even the 'Magick Moste Evile' skirts the topic."
