Darcie was a little anxious as she handed out the papers for this exam, she had thought of some of the questions herself, and she was glad that the students would at least get to see her face in the exam hall, if only so that they didnt feel so nervous. Hopefully they would find that if they had revised the paper would be a doddle to them, however, there was a niggling feeling that many of the students would not have revised enough for the detail of the paper.

As soon as all of the students had arrived she smiled softly and looked through the paper one last time befoure coughing to get the attention of the hall of students, them falling silent gradually as she did so.

"This paper represents 100% of your marks for this year, it is a series of 5 questions which you will have some muiltiple choice options, and some not, you may begin this paper, now."

The use of necromancy in modern society is one that is frowned upon, the revival of the dead into a mimicry of the living is one that many witches and wizards condemn as one of the darkest forms of magic, one of the most unforgivable acts that a magical person can perform. Necromancy involves reviving the body of the dead, and giving it a magical base form of life, it cannot be a very detailed existence in most cases, but the power of the necromancer can elevate the consciousness of the individual, a modern day example includes Raven Drake, who can create new bodies for spirits.

Necromancy was initially considered to be one of the renowned principles of the Dark Arts, concerned with communication with the deceased, or reviving them. However, in the present day, Necromancy is an almost extinct art, very few people strong enough to effectively 'wake up the dead'. The word 'necromancy' was derived from the Late Latin word necromantia, and was classified in Renaissance magic as the first among the seven forbidden arts. Necromancy was prevalent in history, with records of its practice in Babylon, Egypt, Greece etc. and the oldest literary account of necromancy can be found in the 'Odyssey' performed by Odysseus under the instruction of Circe.
