THE HALLOWEEN BALL (OPEN TO ALL BRITS)

Briony had managed to get the funds to have this Halloween event, she had thought it would stop all of the students running amock trying to trick or treat at the Professor's offices and possibly making Peeves even more excited than he normally was.

She hoped that they would enjoy themselves and that they would come in costume, it was Halloween after all, hopefully they would be able to embrace the spirit of the event and come with the intent to have fun. Briony had also opened the event to all the adults in Britain, in case they wanted to join the board of Govenors and support the school financially through seeing it this evening.

With a smirk on her face Briony let the candlelight flicker, the atmosphere spooky as she waited for the students to arrive, the tables cleared to one side to form a sort of dance hall, and the food was on the tables still left either side of the room.



Briony's Costume - Queen of Hearts

Humphrey felt completely ridiculous in his costume, but he had to admit the mask was more comfortable. He had decided to dress up as Westley, aka the Dread Pirate Roberts from Princess Bride. It was one of his favorite movies and books of all time. His mask, unlike some of the others he had considered, was plain black cloth. He also had his sword with him, and it worked because Westley was a swordsman as well. The black leather pants, as well as the black cotton shirt felt wonderful. Since it was inside, he decided to leave a couple of the top strings untied. His boots were his special kind he'd gotten from the weapons shop, he had cast a glamor charm on them to make them appear black to match his costume.

Walking in, he saw that the only person here as of yet was Headmistress Romain. So, being the gentleman he was, Humphrey walked up to her and bowed, kissing her hand. "Hello, may I have this dance my Queen of Hearts?" Humphrey already knew how to dance, and had been disappointed when the first ball he had come to had been interrupted. This was his first opportunity to dance since then, and he was pumped up about it. Of course, he blushed when he asked her, but his mask covered it. That was one more advantage to wearing a mask, and he was starting to really like it. "I must say, you look very beautiful tonight."

Charlotte walked into the ball, she was so excited because she did not remember a time she had ever celebrated Halloween before, she had wanted to but never gotten the chance, now she was dressing up as best she could to make sure that she was the best dressed there.

What was even better was that she could morph her hair and appearence, all she needed to go and do was create the dress that she wanted. Walking into the hall she looked around and saw Briony dressed rather beautifully, and someone who seemed to be angling for a dance, although it wasn't Uncle Richard.

Although she was confused she made her way over to the drinks table, picking up a butterbeer and sipping at it, her cat tail hanging down by her legs.

Senium smiled happily, she was so excited she had never been to a ball before, apart from the last one that Hogwarts had and it was not very fun because she had done nothing all night, but she was determined to make herself enjoy herself tonight, she knew more people so it would not be so awkward.

Walking into the hall, she gazed at the people already there, and blushed, she had thought that it was going to be a masquerade ball, it had said so on the notice but she seemed to be the only one here in her full ballgown outfit, the metal rings under her dress were uncomfortable, but she knew they looked good, so kept herself happy while wearing the dress.

Placing her mask on her face she looked around and waited to see if she could recognise anyone, or be asked to dance.

Senium's Costume - Masquerade

"Excuse me, somebody I must dance with just walked in. My apologies, my queen." Humphrey said, and turned away from her. He had seen a girl he suspected may be Senium walk in. He was going to find out. She was a blonde, the same height, and wearing a beautiful mask with a full ballgown. Already, the girl had blushed, which was definitely something Senium would do.

As soon as he reached her, he bowed and kissed her hand. Hopefully, when he spoke Senium would recognize his voice. If not, he would just have to convince her to dance with him as a stranger. Either way, it was going to be fun. "Hello, beautiful lady, would you give this dread pirate a chance to dance with the prettiest lady in the room. I will do what ever you ask of me; it shall be, as you wish." he told her, offering her his hand. If she took it, then they may just be the first couple out on the dance floor.

Looking past the mask, he tried to make out the face behind. The eyes looked the same, so he figured it was Senium. However, he was curious to see if she could guess who he was just by his eyes and voice. Now, since he was positively sure it was Senium, he decided to tell her something else. "You know, you look an awful lot like a flower in that dress of yours." Humphrey stated, smiling and winking as he did so.

Richard chuckled a little bit as he adjusted his custome a final time. The hat was amazing but just did not want to stay on. Not to mention his eyes were stinging like mad from the spells but the effect was worth it. But now... now it was time to make his grand entrance!

He burst through the front doors to the hall, rushing through with the tails of his hat flailing madly behind him, carrying a tea cup. Richard was grinning manically and he stopped at the head table, bowing so low that his hat fell off. Before it hit the floor he caught it gracefully before grinning,

"My Queen!" he declared to Briony, "I do hope I'm not late!"

Cobalt had decided to go as someone a bit edgier than any of the other teachers had decided to go as. Especially if he acted in character. Well, actually if he acted in character he'd probably have to kill them all with some kind of airborne poison which would make them all die laughing... but that was a bad idea all around so he'd just be selectively in characters.

The greasepaint had been hard to apply but thankfully Charlotte had provided her assistance, making him look incredibly scary and lifelike. Of course he hated the suit. It was perfect for the character but Cobalt just had some OCD about suits being tidy... He shrugged a little bit as he wandered into the hall, grinning a manic grin.

He wandered through the crowds and even managed a wink at his daughter as he passed,

"You did a damn fine job Char-kitty, on yourself and on my make-up!" he laughed manically before smirking, "How was that? Too creepy or not creepy enough?"

Entering the ball, she forced herself not to flush in her costume. Her costume seemed a bit out of character, a costume for a more confident individual, but Victoria had convinced her telling her to be less shy. She took a deep breath and placed her mask on, and felt the cat ears on her head tilt a bit.

Taking a deep breath, she walked through the hall and tried not to shy away from anything. Who cared if she looked different, that's why she had the mask, to give her some confidence. She wondered where Victoria, Xander and Luke were, but she simply picked up some punch and sat down, saving a table for the others.

Senium watched as the man who was with Headmistress Briony came over to her, now that there were more people in the room she had watched all of them come in and she was a little scared by the outfit that Cobie was wearing, it seemed to be all too realistic, and Master Richard as well for that matter.

Now with the man in front of her, she in fact saw it was a student, and one that she knew very well, her thoughts were confirmed as soon as he spoke and Senium giggled a little bit, boy did Humphrey look different when he was dressed up like this.

"Why hello to you too Humphrey." she whispered in case he didn't want anyone else to know "Ooooh you rumbled me that's no fair!" Senium joked poking her tongue out as she did so.

"You look amazing, who are you supposed to be?"

Haley stood in front of the mirror and bit her lip. She was a fourth year now. 14 years old. She sighed. She'd dressed herself up in ballet clothes, impersonation the character she loved the most. She sighed again. She didn't look like she was fourteen. It looked like she was at least seventeen. She had tied her hair firmly in a very classy bum at the top of her head, adding a charm, making the color darker, and not quite so red and recognizable. She bent down and fixed the laces on her shoes, tying them together.

She then nodded and left the girls' dormitory. She smiled to herself as she descended the stairs. She moved towards the exit of the common room and walked to the Great Hall. She smiled softly to herself, hoping she wouldn't be recognized. That was always the funny bit. She took on her mask and smiled softly to herself as she walked into the hall. She suddenly felt very wary. She didn't recognize a single one of the people there. She could see headmistress Romain and a man dressed like the Mad Hatter. That made her happy. But then she saw another professor, dressed as the Joker. That made her even happier. She loved the Joker.

She walked over to the table with the drinks and got herself one before walking over to a chair, sitting down, waiting to see if anyone would talk to her. She had practiced her voice for days on end, ready to make them wonder who she was. She wondered if there'd be a 'take off the masks at midnight' or something, because that was always fun. She smiled to herself as she studied the other people's outfits.

Senium giggled a bit as he walked up, and he blushed under his mask. What was so funny? He was supposed to be an intimidating pirate for Pete's sake. "You don't seem to be intimidated by the Dread Pirate Roberts, do you Senium?" he whispered back. "I rumbled you? What do you mean by that, I'm afraid I don't follow?" he asked her, honestly confused by her wording.

"Westley from Princess Bride, also known as the Dread Pirate Roberts. It is a character in my favorite muggle movie, and my third favorite book. The Princess Bride is a brilliant film and book, you must read it sometime. If I would have thought to coordinate you could have dressed up as Buttercup. She is blonde, beautiful, and the best woman in the world, just like you are." he said, complimenting her.

"Now, would you care for a dance or not m'lady?"

Tess wrinkled her nose as her friends and boyfriend was late. As usual, she thought smirking. But seeing Haley, her eyes brightened and she got up walking over to her.

Plopping herself beside her, she turned and raised her brow at her costume. While someone wouldn't really notice who it was, she knew that hair color anywhere.

"Hello" she said smiling.

Both girls had masks on, but for her, it'd be impossible to hide from friends.

Oliver grinned to himself. He hadn't had this much fun in a long while that was for sure. The Headmistress and Deputy Headmaster had definitely outdone themselves for sure as the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter. He lifted his hat and bowed his head when a lady passed him by. He figured that lurking to the shadows worked well with his character.

After all, Jack the Ripper obviously didn't like to make such scenes while he was present at them. Gliding up on swift feet, he grinned at both Briony and Richard. "Evening Boss times two. I'm afraid I don't have any presents for you at the current time, but I might have something later." Oliver said, sweeping his hat off his head and bowing at the waist before straightening up and plopping the hat back on his head.

Costume

Airen entered the Halloween Ball. He was dressed in a very realistic version of an Assassin. He found that his order and the order from the franchise had a lot in common. But enough about that. Tonight, he was going to have some fun. He spotted Charlotte over by the drinks and walked over to her.

"Hello, Charlotte. You look amazing this evening," he said as he walked up to her. He gave her a warm hug and. While he had grown more confident around her the past four years, but he was still an bit shy. He also did not want to put off Cobalt by kissing his daughter right in front of him. Airen may be trained as a Swordmage, but the man could easily beat him.

He looked to Cobalt and almost jumped out of his skin when he saw the Joker staring right back at him. He inclined his head to the man. His hooded figure cut a very intimidating form itself.

"Good evening, sir. How have you been?"

Melody walked in.She had been tempted to just go as a witch but instead she went as a black cat with a cat nose and whiskers painted onto her face, she wore (fake obviously)cat ears and a tail, a long sleeved black dress that went down a to her feet and black sneakers.She felt nervous and had only come for the food as she didn't like dancing.

Keiba blinked, her lashes heavy at the tips with gold leaf. She finished tying the small gold threads under her hair and glanced in the mirror that sat atop her dresser. The opaque white cloth, trimmed with gold, that she'd just tied over her nose fell to just past her chin, and her hair was tied back in a half-up fashion. The crown of her head was decorated with gold chain clips, and the beads fell down her forehead to meet the cloth. Keiba's dark hair fell in waves over her shoulders and she thought to herself that she really did look Arabian.

She grinned, her Prince-of-Persia-cross-Aladdin inspired costume was awesome (if she might say so herself). Keiba glanced down at the part where her costume allowed midriff, but her stomach seemed to be lying flat this evening and left no room for embarrassment. She smiled and cast a warming charm over her body so she wouldn't get cold, then made her way down to the Halloween Ball.

Keiba's bare feet slid silently across the cold tiles and she entered the beautifully-decorated room like a ghost. She scanned it for people that she knew, but by now the crowd had thickened so much that she couldn't tell who was where. The tassles on her top tickled her ribs, but she ignored them and kept moving. She liked the way her skirt sat right on her hips, it made Keiba like her curve a little more now.

Cobalt had gotten himself a glass of punch and was idly scratching Charlotte behind her cat ears with a small smile when Airen arrived. He grinned widely when he noticed that Airen was dressed like an Assassin,

"Now Airen it seems we've found an outfit you were almost born into!" he chuckled a little bit before smirking at Charlotte, "You liking the air of mystery Char-kitty?"

He held up his hands with a grin,

"But I'm not going to crowd you two lovebirds!" he told them before bowing, "I have children to terrorise, if you'll excuse me!"

Charlotte had saw her Papa coming into the ball and as soon as he came over to her she pretended to hide between her fingers, he was really scary tonight and she had seen some of the reactions when he had come into the Great Hall, hopefully nobody would be traumatised.

Her bell jingling lightly she pecked him on the cheeks regardless; "Papa you look so amazing, you're so scary! But thank you, I hoped that I would be able to make the costume as well as I had wanted to."

When she heard Airen she turned and smiled widely at what he was wearing, he was so handsome when he wore things like this, although it made her blush to think it. Hugging him gently Charlotte blushed and tried to conceal it as best she could, winding her fingers around her short pink hair.

"Hey Airen, I love you're costume, you look so great!" she grinned happily.

As Victoria walked through the doors, she mentally slapped herself. She thought it had been a masquerade ball. Her outfit wasn't exactly the usual ball gown, but it wasn't a straight up Halloween costume either. She'd found a cool little shop in London over the summer that specialized in gothic gowns. She'd also been able to find a mask that she thought went well with it.

She instantly caught sight of Tess and smiled. She knew Tess was worried about the boldness of her outfit, but it looked fantastic. She wanted to slap herself for not getting the hint then to pick something less...old fashioned. But she decided to give it a more Halloween twist, letting her fangs extend.

As she made her way over to Tess, she was happy to see everyone having such a good time. She wondered where the boys had gone off to. "You look great, girl." Victoria wondered how many wizards or witches understood the muggle movie references present in the room.

It was time for one of Zara's favourite times of the year. She's always loved Halloween and dressing up in scary costumes. She'd always had a thing for creepy dolls, so she decided to go to the ball as one.

She entered the main hall, wandering if anyone would recognize her underneath the makeup she was wearing. She was wearing a lot of makeup in order to make herself look like a doll, plus she had drawn on some stitches to make her look creepy.

As she scanned the hall, she came across a beautiful Keiba. Her costume was so pretty! Trying to be in character, Zara skipped over to her friend. "Hello, Keiba!" she said, attempting to make her voice sound higher and cuter than usual.

Tess grinned brightly as she saw that Victoria had finally arrived. She really did look smashing in her outfit and her fangs, well they worked well with her outfit.

"Why thank you, so do you" she said smiling. "Love the fangs"

She winked and noticed how comfortable she had become since her transformation. The dark suited Victoria well, especially in her super pale skin.

"Wonder where the boys are" she commented to her and handed her a spare cup of punch just so it'd look normal.

Airen bowed in reply to Charlotte's comments on his costume. He raised himself up and looked into her eyes. "Anything to impress the fair maiden," he said in his Italian accent. He took her hand gently and kissed the back of it like a true nobleman of the Renaissance.

"You look simply stunning," he said, a warm smile on his face. He hugged her back and placed a kiss in her short, pink hair.

Keiba turned around almost too fast and almost fell backwards when a creepy doll appeared behind her. She grinned. "Zara! You look fantasmagorical!" Keiba giggled.

She put her hands together in the eastern style and winked. Her eyes felt like the only part of her face that were visible from behind the veil and jewellery.

Zara's costume was amazing. "I love, love, love, LOVE your costume!" She cried out, hugging her Slytherin buddy.

Pyxis skidded along to the ball and walked inside, a small smile on her face. She was still on a major high after winning the tournament, and her sour mood over her parents divorce had dissolved due to her winning. Her father was pleased with her, and her mother was delighted per usual.

Pyxis spied another Slytherin, Zara? Talking to Keiba and she walked over to them with her arms swinging by her side. A huge grin swept across her face and she walked up behind Keiba, pressing a finger to her lips as she caught Zara's eye.

She wrapped her arms around Keiba's head and covered her eyes with her hands. "Guess who," Pyxis grinned.

Lucia was uncomfortable, to say the least. She was dreadfully uncomfortable and felt seriously exposed. But she had decided to challenge herself. Besides nothing scared her more than what she was currently wearing. She sighed and took a deep breath. "I can do this."

She left her quarters and walked to the Great Hall, reaching it way to quickly for her taste. She walked into the place and then drew energy from the lights and smiled at the feeling. She then pushed her outfit to the back of her mind and walked towards the only person she knew, having forgotten their bad blood along with what she was wearing.

"Hey Briony," she said softly, and then she realized how long it had been since she said her name. The fact that Lucia hadn't been there when Briony gave birth had put a stopper to their relationship. Lucia instantly frowned as she remembered that, and now she felt like her clothes were even worse. "Eh, forget it," she said lowly and turned to walk away.
