Background Information:

Shekel was born in the 35th Century BC, in what was then southern Mesopotamia and is now a part of Iraq. Growing up in one of the only cities in the world had it's advantages and he received very minor education and training in how to be a priest of the old gods (wizard). When neighbouring tribes attacked he was training instead to be a spearman, which also meant he was to be a hunter. One day, when he was about 24 and expecting to die any season from any number of causes, the city was attacked by a stranger. The stranger was feral, driven mad by the sun they thought. He bit people, tearing bloody chunks from them when he did so. He was more beast than man. It took almost all of the warriors until dawn, when the creature seemed to weaken, to kill the creature.

By that time half the warriors were dead and Shekel had been bitten, the creature having bled into his large wound in it's final moments. Shekel lived through the attack that killed dozens of others and was seen as gifted by the gods for it, for after the attack he stopped aging and never grew ill or weak. He suffered from the same pain in sunlight that the creature had done however but it was a small price to pay. The city worshipped him for many seasons until they began to grow resentful. Rather than destroy the people he had protected, Shekel left the city.

Wandering for many, many, seasons, Shekel made his way to what would later become Egypt and began to help some of the tribes band together to form cities and towns of their own. Revered as a God, Shekel was worshipped as Osiris, the man who was killed and came back from the grave. In one of the Egyptian courts he found Sekhmet and decided to give her the gift of vampirism.

Shekel took Sekhmet into the New World, Europe, as the civilisations there were beginning to build themselves up. Travelling through Troy, Greece and Rome, the two of them gained much experience and knowledge of the world. Arriving in Britain, and intending to leave, Shekel decided to stay when he stumbled across Stonehenge in 1756. It was the only thing he'd found in western Europe from the same time as he was and he decided that he would stay closer to it, settling down in Britain from then on. Of course he also stayed close in order to keep an eye on Sekhmet, who had decided to travel around in western Europe.
