The End Of Year Ball!

Briony grinned to herself, it looked like tonight was going to be absolutely brilliant, she had decked the Great Hall out with various cherry blossom trees and the smaller tables around the entrance were decorated with a light green cloth, all to give the effect of a summer ball, which was in fact the season of the moment.

All the time that she had spent planning made it worth it, hopefully the students would love it, and love the food that she had laid on for them, there were all sorts of delicious goods for them to nibble one, and of course, lasagne for herself.

"Welcome one and all to the end of year ball! I hope that it will be a momentus occasion for you all and you will have a lovely time with the friends you have made this year before you return home in a few days. Party on...dudes."

Briony smirked and the music began in full swing.

Keiba stood in the back of the hall, waiting for her date to meet up with her. She'd spent most of the day trying to tame her hair into doing what she wanted it to do - a fancy bun that looked like knots of hair were petals of a flower. Two curled pieces of russet-brown hair twirled about her lightly made-up face. She had decided to go with silver jewelry and brown and silver accents for her eye makeup. Chocolate gown swishing about her, she waited for Humphrey to hurry up and get to the ball. Anyone would think that boy took more time than she did to get ready!

Charlotte hurried into the ball room, it looked beautiful! All this summer green and the cherry blossoms really were romantic, and she was even more enthused because they all went with her dress that she had made, yes, once again she had stayed up to make her dress so that nobody would have the same.

She saw that there seemed to be a Ravenclaw girl on her own and she smiled softly at her, giving a little wave, Charlotte stood at the edge of the room under a large cherry tree and waited for Airen to arrive, she was so excited to have him as her date to the ball and she knew it would be a wonderful evening with him there.

Keiba saw a beautiful slytherin girl rush into the room. Her gown was magnificent, and she looked gorgeous. She couldn't help staring at her, almost wishing she were as pretty. The girl spotted her and waved, and so Keiba waved back in a friendly manner. She smiled slightly as the girl slid to stand under a cherry tree, also waiting for her date.
Briefly, Keiba considered going to join her. She didn't know the girl that well, so she decided against it, even though it could have been a good opportunity to get to know her a bit.

Charlotte bit her lip, there was nobody here she knew yet so she decided that she would go and talk to the Ravenclaw girl, and possibly make a new friend in the process, after all she had made plenty of Gryffindor friends.

Nervously she walked over to the girl and she smiled once more, giving another small wave before she actually spoke up:

"Hi, I'm Charlotte Smith, I guess we're both waiting for our dates huh? Who's taking you to the ball?" she asked with a smile, hopefully picking up on something they both had in common.

Airen entered the Great Hall dressed in dress robes. They fit him nicely, he had to admit. He looked around the Great Hall. It was decked in a summer theme, the cherry blossoms and greenery made him think of the summers he spent in Italia (Italy). Ah, those were the days. He looked around the Hall and saw Charlotte talking with a Ravenclaw he didn't recognize. Airen walked over to them. He tapped Charlotte on the shoulder

"Salve (hello), Charlotte. Who's your friend?" he asked gesturing to the Ravenclaw. He inclined his head in greeting.

Airen entered the Great Hall dressed in dress robes. They fit him nicely, he had to admit. He looked around the Great Hall. Humphrey hurried into the hall, he had been running late since he had to pick up his dress robes in Hogsmeade. They had turned out wonderfully. Rushing into the Great Hall, he noticed that smaller tables were along either side of the hall that had green tablecloths on him that made him think about the summer color of grass. Scanning the Great Hall, he located Keiba, who was his date, at the back. They were going as friends, but she was still his date and he should have done better to be on time. He also saw Charlotte Smith and waved at her on his way to Keiba. "Sorry I'm late. I rushed as fast as he could but didn't allow myself enough time." he explained.

She looked beautiful. Just as beautiful as Charlotte Smith, more so in fact. And although the Headmistress looked very pretty to in a red dress she was way too old for him to view that way. Yes, Keiba was the prettiest girl in the room in his opinion, and he was her escort. "Would you care to dance?" he asked her. They both had brown dress robes that looked beautiful together.

Lucia sat behind the staff table. She looked around the Great Hall at the many decorations. She loved the cherry blossom trees. She hoped the ball would be a good finish to the year, and she smiled wider than ever when the music started playing.

Haley walked into the Great Hall with a big smile on her face. She was met by music in her ears and she really looked forward to dancing the night away. She looked around and smiled at the cherry blossoms.

She figured that since she was a Hufflepuff, she'd buy a dress that was black and yellow. She was very pleased with her purchase as well. She then noticed that she didn't know anyone in the room. But she figured she'd go and talk to those who were there.


"Hello," she said to the Gryffidor, the Ravenclaw and the Slytherin. "I'm Haley Scott," she said with a smile, hoping they wouldn't overlook her. It was scary enough on a ball.

Keiba greeted both Charlotte and Airen warmly, and said to Charlotte, "Humphrey. I'm going with Humphrey." Sure enough, there he was, strolling across the floor towards them. "Look! There he is!" She cried gladly.
He reached the small group and soon all four were chatting heartily. A Hufflepuff girl came up to them, looking beautiful in a canary yellow and black dress. "You look lovely!" Keiba cried as she reached them. She couldn't help it; everyone here looked so amazing. The girl introduced herself as Haley Scott. "Keiba Namid," she said, holding out a hand for Haley to shake.

Haley smiled to Keiba and shook her hand. "You look beautiful too," she said happily.

She was relieved that the girl seemed to be a very welcoming one, so she easily started chatting with them. She remembered Humphrey from the Flying lessons, as well as Airen from a few other lessons they shared. She also remembered Charlotte from the Infiltration lessons.

As the music continued playing, she started tapping her foot, feeling the music lift her spirit.

"Oh, I can't wait to dance!" she said happily.

"Aww, thank you!" Keiba said graciously. The beat was starting to get to her as well, and seeing that Haley was without a partner, she asked, "Do you have a date, Haley?"

Haley shook her head. "Nah, I don't," she said with a smile.

Haley preferred to go alone, but she wouldn't have minded going with someone as a friend. Why hadn't she thought of that?

"How about you?" Haley asked with a smile.

"Piacere (A pleasure) Haley and Keiba, My name is Airen Auditoren," Airen said. He nodded his head slowly at the group. He quickly realized that a member from every house was present. This made him smile. He remembered reading that the founders were great friends at one point in time, and it sure seemed to be evident here.

When Keiba said that she was attending the Ball with Humphrey, Airen smiled. He would've been fine to let Humphrey dance with Charlotte if he had come alone, but seeing that Humphrey wasn't going alone eased made Airen happy for the three of them. There weren't any hard feelings after their fiasco in the amphitheater.

"Ciao (Hello),Humphrey, how are you?" Airen asked smiling.

Keiba cast a glance at Humphrey, then back to Haley.

"This guy," she said, pointing to him with a thumb and a joking wink. "We're good friends, so we're going together, but apparently he owes a few other young ladies a dance or two. So, in return," here she leaned in closer like she was disclosing a secret, "He's promised to introduce me to some of his mates."

Keiba chuckled and pulled back, grinning at her new Hufflepuff friend.

Charlotte frowned a little bit, despite being happy that Airen was her date, she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed at the mixed messages that she was getting from Humphrey, chalking it down to everything that he had said to her being a lie, Charlotte turned away from him instead choosing to talk to Airen.

"You look wonderful Airen, you're robes are so well fitting."

Smiling softly she hugged Airen and pecked him on the cheek.

"Would you like to come and get a drink with me?" she asked, silently asking with her eyes to get away from Humphrey as soon as possible, she didn't want to be around that liar any longer.

Haley grinned at Airen and then smirked at Keiba.

"Really?" she asked, "Any good-looking ones, do you think?"

She sniggered and turned to Humphrey. "So, how do you think the ball will be?"

She wanted to include him in the conversation, but it seemed like he was off on his own thoughts.

Airen saw Charlotte frown at Humphrey. Wondering what his fellow Gryffindor had done, he put off asking for when they were alone. Airen blushed at Charlotte's comment.

"Gracie (Thank you), you are quite beautiful tonight as well," he said. He hugged her back.

"Of course," he said, understanding what she was really asking by her previous expressions to his dorm room mate. He extended his elbow out to Charlotte. "If you'll excuse us," Airen said addressing the other girls. He led Charlotte to the drinks. He grabbed a glass of water for himself.

"Oh, yes, I hope so," Keiba said to Haley, smirking playfully. "He should get you a partner too, shouldn't you, Humphrey? Humphrey?!" But to no avail, he was still off in his own little world. Keiba rolled her eyes.

Airen and Charlotte excused themselves. "Sure, go ahead. We'll see you later!" Keiba said cheerfully as they walked away.

Keiba turned back to Haley. "Let's see if we can wake this boy up."

Haley grinned. "I'm in," she said with a wicked glint in her eyes.

"Yo, Humphrey?" she asked the boy, waving her hand in front of his eyes. "Humphrey?"

But no avail.

Haley turned to Keiba. "Okay, it doesn't work," she said with a pout, "You try..."

Charlotte blushed a little bit as Airen held out his arm to her, linking with him gladly Charlotte hugged his arm as they walked, this was all very lovely, and she looked at the drinks, settling on a pumpkin juice and wondering why she ever even thought of anyone else...like that.

"Thanks Airen, I made it myself again, but I hurt my fingers a lot in the process."

She frowned looking at her fingers, which she had managed to cover with a glamour charm, yet, underneath they still stung a little.

Taking a sip of her dirnk Charlotte blushed a little more.

"Would you like to dance with me? It's okay if you want to wait for a slower song."

"Oh dear me. It's not working! I do wonder what is wrong with our dear boy," Keiba jested teasingly. Still nothing from Humphrey. She scratched her head. "Maybe the pixies really have run away with him," she said doubtfully.

Haley laughed. "Nah, he's probably just mesmerized by the beautiful dresses the girls here are wearing," she said teasingly, but didn't get a reaction from Humphrey then either.

Then a quick song Haley loved a lot started playing. She grinned and turned to Keiba. "We're gonna dance now," she said and grabbed the girl's arm before she could protest.

She then swung Keiba around and started dancing some mad swing. She wasn't super good at it, but it sure as hell was funny.

Keiba couldn't stop laughing, but soon got into the swing of it herself, mucking around and twirling her friend across the floor. They were almost doubling over with laughter as they danced across the floor, earning odd stares from other students around them.

"You dance well, Haley!" she said. "Perfect as a partner for me, I'll say!" Her big grin got the better of her as they continued to waltz around with posh expressions on their faces. It was very difficult, trying to keep sober.
